WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CLAY TOWNSHIP'S OPPOSITION TO THE NORTHWEST INITIATIVE PETITION

On 01/22/2026 the Board of Trustees approved our opposition statement to the Northwest Initiative's proposal to remove territory from the current township.  Below, you can review the official opposition letter, a letter of support from State Representative Rodney Creech, and the information that was provided by the Northwest Initiative to those who attended the October 8, 2025 meeting, this includes a map of the area being discussed.

During the month of January, the Board of Trustees held several open meetings to allow for discussion and public comment and had over 300 attendees, as well as received 509 signatures from residents who agreed with the Board's position to keep the township whole. As of 02/05/2026 the Northwest Initiative posted on their website, https://www.northwestinitiative.com/, that the petitions were being halted and all activities were being ceased, with a new effort to work as a community to address any concerns is being made. We believe maintaining Clay Township as a unified community is in the best interest of all residents and the Board of Trustees are dedicated to working collaboratively with our residents to ensure the best future for everyone.

As a final action, the Township's Opposition Letter and resident signatures were hand delivered and submitted into public record to the Board of Montgomery County Commissioner's at their public meeting on 02/17/2026.
