RECYCLING PROGRAM
Recycling
pickup is a service that we provide for all residents of Clay
Township and Phillipsburg. If you choose to participate, please
follow these guidelines and special handling requirements.

Plastics
Plastic
milk containers, soft drink, shampoo, laundry and detergent
bottles displaying the recycling logo with the numbers 1 or 2.
*Foam and rigid polystyrene food packaging containers are also
accepted, providing they display the number 6. Please remove all
caps or lids and rinse out. Plastic containers may be crushed to
conserve space in our bin. |
Plastics
Wide mouth
containers such as margarine bowls or whipped topping
containers, plastic flatware, cassette and compact disc cases,
children’s toys, oil jugs, plastic bags, plastic buckets, and
garden hoses. Non-food packaging, including styrofoam packing
peanuts. |
Glass
Clear, brown,
green and blue glass food and beverage containers and jars are
accepted. Please remove caps and rinse out. Paper labels do not
need to be removed. |
Glass
Window
glass, mirrors, light bulbs, drinking glasses, mugs and
oven/cooking glassware. (Pyrex). |
Steel Food & Beverage Cans
Aluminum cans,
steel soup and food cans, an empty aerosol cans are accepted.
Please rinse and drain. *Steel lids may be placed in cans;
labels do not need to be removed. *Metal lids from glass jars
are accepted. |

Pots, pans,
scrap metal or steel, and coat hangers. |
Paper
Newspapers with
glossy ad inserts, magazine catalogs, *telephone books,
paperboard boxes (cereal, snack boxes), junk mail (direct mail,
window envelopes flyers) and soft drink and beer cartons should
be placed together in a brown paper grocery sack. Place sack (s)
inside or beside your bin. *Corrugated cardboard is accepted,
only broken down into 2-ft. by 2-ft. bundles. Place on or beside
bin. |

Pizza
boxes. Grease and food contamination renders it unacceptable.

Cartons, Drink & Juice Boxes
Paperboard
cartons containing such items as milk, juice, non-dairy
creamers, fabric softener and egg substitutes. Also accepted is
packaging recognized by its box shape into which a straw can be
inserted (sometimes referred to as “aseptics”, drink or juice
boxes. |
