Information:
Clay Township Police Department is a full time department and employs twenty-six (26) police officers.  Our staff currently includes 4 full time officers, 8 part time paid officers and 9 non-paid auxiliary officers. We have an active fleet of five (5) police cruisers and cover thirty-six (36) square miles 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Copies of reports can be obtained by contacting the Secretary weekdays between the hours of 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM. The Clay Township Police department handled 3,505 calls in 2005.

We started a drug K9 program in 1996 solely funded by donations from businesses and private citizens. The program remained effectively active until December 2002 when unfortunately, and regretfully, our K9 “Tori” passed on from natural causes. We are currently reviewing the possibility of continuing the program.

We also have a McGruff program.

Clay Township Police
Dog Memorialized

Don and Tori

In Don Perkins' 30 years with the Clay Township Police Department, he only worked three years with a partner. Perkins was hoping to retire with his partner, a blond Labrador retriever named Tori who made police work come alive again for the seasoned veteran chief.
But Tori didn't make it to her retirement party. Tori passed away Saturday December 14th 2002 of gastric dilatation.
As a drug-sniffing dog, with $9.7 million in drug seizures in 2001 alone, Perkins and Tori were often called to possible drug labs and interdictions by the Ohio Highway Patrol, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and other police agencies.
Tori served the township well and she is missed by all that knew her.
