Meeting of the Clay Township-City of Clayton JEDD
ATTENDANCE
CALL TO ORDER Joe Tuss called the meeting to order at 1:04 PM. Present were Joe Tuss, Norman Kniess, Charles Menker, Malcolm Treon, and Brian Elkins. CLERK’S REPORT Kniess made a motion to approve the minutes of the May 2, 2008 JEDD Board Meeting second by Menker. Approved unanimously. TREASURER REPORT Elkins distributed the Treasurer’s report. There are two bills needing to be addressed, an invoice from the Brookville Star for advertisements, and the Board is in the position where it needs to purchase checks to make payments. Motion by Menker to accept the payments, second by Treon. Approved unanimously. Elkins then distributed the current Financial Statement. Motion by Treon, second by Menker to accept the current Financial Statement. Approved unanimously. DISCUSSION OF DEVELOPMENT PLAN AND OHIO JOB READY SITES PROGRAM Tuss provided copies of the JEDD’s Ohio Job Ready Sites application to each Board member. A copy was also given to Bill Watt to hold at the Clay Township Offices for public viewing. Tuss advised the JEDD will most likely not receive a grant this round. However, there is discretionary money available after grants have been awarded. The JEDD is hoping to receive some of this money. Montgomery County has close to $5 million in water and sewer invested. The water line is currently on schedule. The sewer project has four easements outstanding. Three easements look promising, and the County is working on the fourth. County Sanitary has instructed the design team to finish the design plan. They are looking to bid the project August or early Fall, worst case scenario January. The Board scheduled a work session to work on the Ohio Job Ready Sites application. The work session is scheduled Friday, June 27 at 10:00 AM at the Montgomery County Administrative Building, 10th Floor Conference Room. GENERAL DISCUSSION Mr. Jackson stated he has been making upgrades on the treatment plant and currently is in compliance with the EPA. He stated Mr. Hofacker wants to add another building. However, County Sanitary states he needs his own treatment facility. Tuss to check with Sanitary Engineering Department. Elkins introduced Gwen Eberly. Ms. Eberly is Clayton’s new Economic Development Director. Menker stated he and Bill Watt had visited businesses on Jack’s Lane. Everyone they spoke with was very positive. Sandra Stewart of Timber Lanes heard the EPA will be coming down hard on current businesses septic systems. Tuss stated the EPA is well informed of the County’s plans, but will check further. The next JEDD Board Meeting is scheduled Friday, August 1st 1:00 PM at the Clay Township Offices. ADJOURNMENT Treon moved to adjourn, second by Elkins. Approved unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 1:42 PM.
