CALL TO ORDER

Joe Tuss called the meeting to order at 1:11 PM.  Present were Joe Tuss, Norman Kniess, Charles Menker, Malcolm Treon, and Brian Elkins.

CLERK’S REPORT

Menker made a motion to approve the minutes of the April 11, 2008 JEDD Board Meeting second by Kniess.  Voting yea were Tuss, Elkins, Menker and Kniess.  Treon abstained.  Motion Approved.

TREASURER REPORT

Elkins distributed the Treasurer’s report.  Tuss recommended disbursements be made quarterly versus monthly.  Motion by Treon to accept the Treasurer’s report second by Menker.  Approved unanimously.

DISCUSSION OF DEVELOPMENT PLAN AND OHIO JOB READY SITES PROGRAM

Tuss discussed the Ohio Job Ready Sites application.  Applications are due May 15th and advised the State will accept applications which are not complete.  Tuss believes that with the work accomplished to date and additional work before May 15th we should have an application 80-85% complete to submit.  Further work on the application would be required.  Tuss then asked, who should be the applicant?  Tuss recommended the County as the State looks at groups who have handled large amounts of money.  After the application is submitted, the County would need formal Resolutions from the Township and City in support of the application.  The Board scheduled a work session to review the application prior to submission.  The work session is scheduled Tuesday, May 13 at 10:00 AM at the Montgomery County Administrative Building, 10th Floor.

GENERAL DISCUSSION

Menker stated a business owner, who is not in the JEDD, made negative comments about the JEDD.  Tuss suggested conducting Business First meetings, recommending Bill Watts and Gwen Eberly.  Malcolm Treon volunteered to help with the meetings.  Elkins stated Gwen Eberly, Clayton’s new Economic Development Director, will attend the June 6th JEDD Meeting.   The Board also requested that she attend the Workshop on May 13th.  A comment from the audience - are any other JEDD’s submitting applications for the Ohio Job Ready Sites program?  Tuss stated no, and there are no applications being submitted by the County.

The next JEDD Board Meeting is scheduled Friday, June 6th at 1:00 PM at the Clay Township Offices.

ADJOURNMENT

Elkins moved to adjourn, second by Menker.  Approved unanimously.  Meeting adjourned at 2:18 PM.
